New Collection with Undertow!

Toronto, Canada, August 1, 2015 — Undertow Publications has acquired short story collections from D.P. Watt and Sunny Moraine to round out their 2016 fiction list. ‘Almost Insentient, Almost Divine,’ is the third collection of weird fiction from D.P. Watt, while ‘Singing With All My Skin and Bone’ is the much-anticipated debut collection from Sunny Moraine.

“I am delighted to be working with Michael at Undertow on this collection. Undertow have rapidly established themselves as one of the most interesting publishers of ‘the weird’,” Watt said. “Almost Insentient, Almost Divine, collects some more recent tales from between 2013 and 2015 alongside some new ones written for the collection. The subject matter is varied, from puppeteers and pornographers, scarecrows and Mummers, to lace-makers and newlyweds, thespians and falconers.’

“Daniel Watt is truly one of the top practitioner’s of weird fiction,” Kelly said. “He employs a precise, literate style that draws you in, like a Venus Flytrap. Daniel is still largely flying under the radar in North America, but that is about to change.”

Watt’s fiction has been collected in ‘An Emporium of Automata,’ and ‘The Phantasmagorical Imperative and Other Fabrications,’ and appeared in A Soliloquy for Pan, Aickman’s Heirs, Delicate Toxins, Shadows Edge, Shadows & Tall Trees, and others.

“It’s long been a goal of mine to finally amass enough material for a collection I’m proud of,” Moraine said. “It’s very important to me to have my first one released by someone I know will do right by it, and I’m thrilled to be working with a publisher who produces such wonderful books with so much care. Singing With All My Skin and Bone will feature stories that run the gamut from the horrific to the dreamlike, with all manner of strangeness in between.”

“Sunny Moraine is fearless,” Kelly said. “Their stories are honest and true and thrum with an emotional intensity. A Moraine tale can leave one quite shaken. And that’s what fiction should do.”

Established in 2009 by writer Michael Kelly, Undertow Publications (UP) is home to the acclaimed weird journal Shadows & Tall Trees, as well as the Year’s Best Weird Fiction. Publisher and editor Kelly has been nominated for the World Fantasy Awards, Shirley Jackson Awards, and the British Fantasy Society Awards.

      Dear Harold,

It is probably best to order from Mike Kelly at Undertow. I think he also has a subscription deal for his four books this year. Thanks so much for your continued support.

      Best wishes
      Dan
